A microfocus X-ray tomograph with a walk-in protective cabinet enables non-destructive 3D analysis for examining the porosity of parts made from various materials, volumetric 3D scanning, or dimensional comparison.
Technical specifications of the device:
- 240 kV unipolar open-type X-ray tube
- 180 kV HPNF nanofocus tube
- precise 7-axis manipulation system on granite blocks ensures measurement stability and accuracy
- high image quality ensured by a large-area GE DXR detector
- maximum voxel resolution: up to 2 µm for the 240 kV tube and up to 1 µm for the 180 kV tube
- maximum dimensions of the tested object: height = 800 mm, diameter = 800 mm, weight = 50 kg

Vysokoenergetické mikro-CT v|tome|x L 240

Automatic porosity analysis. Pore size can be visualized in different colors
The construction of an industrial micro-CT, unlike a clinical one, is based on a fixed X-ray tube and a fixed detector, with the sample rotating between them, and utilizes radiation energy > 12.4 keV. The 240 kV X-ray tube is particularly suitable for more massive, radiographically denser, and larger samples, with a corresponding decrease in resolution detail. The 180 kV X-ray tube provides detailed resolution down to 1 µm for small-sized objects. These features make the device ideal for researching the spatial arrangement of pores in parts, inspection, measurement, and comparison of nominal and actual values of industrial products. As an example, an analysis of an apatite crystal is shown, providing characteristics of inclusion and void sizes, their distribution, and shape.
For steel, practical penetration is approximately up to a depth of 10 mm.
The software for evaluating the scanned data, VGStudio MAX 2.2, is complemented with the following modules:
- Porosity/Inclusion Analysis – analysis of pore and inclusion size and distribution
- Coordinate Measurement – alignment of basic elements to volumetric data
- Actual/Nominal Comparison – comparison of actual and designed values
- Wall Thickness Analysis – wall thickness analysis and creation of a pseudo-colored 3D model
Manufacturability assessment
Manufacturability assessment and quotation begin upon receiving a 3D model in STEP, STP, STL, OBJ, or 3MF format. If you don’t have your own 3D model, we can help create one based on your specifications by sending us a photo, drawing, or sketch.
